Muziwakhe Mguli is multidisciplinary artist & craft practitioner born and raised in Soweto and based on Johannesburg, South Africa. His practice moves between ceramics, weaving, sculpture and mix media using materials as a way to investigate, identify, culture, heritage, memory and the everyday African experience. My work with clay, telephone wires rattan, beards and other natural or found materials. His process combines hands on making with weaving techniques, allowing different materials to intertwine and form sculptural object, vessels, masks and abstract forms. A graduate of Imbali Visual Literacy Projects, Mguli has continued to develop his practice through collaborative and exhibition based platforms. His 2026 engagements include The Shape of Many Faces, Antitode markets, Jozi my Jozi, Contra Johannesburg, Soweto Art Week.
